Cousin Fun
Sam was finally able to meet his cousins for the first time in early June and has been getting loved on ever since. This kid is so lucky to have so many people around him that are as crazy about him as we are. For the most part, they couldn't get enough of him. At least until Katie was playing with Sam a little too much for Charlotte's liking at which point she asked me to "please leave now, Auntcy, and take him with you." Creighton warmed up to him pretty quickly, too, and was begging for more time to kiss "Baby Sahm." They are going to have so much fun growing up together, and I am going to have so much fun watching! Hurry back, Peters Kids!

Carrots!
We started introducing Sam to some solids a few weeks ago. So far he's had avocados, bananas, sweet potatoes, peas and carrots. The only thing he hasn't really liked is the rice cereal, and I don't blame him. I think the kid just likes to eat. He'll wrinkle his nose up when he gets the first bite of a new food, but by the second he's loving it. As soon as he swallows one bite he's got his mouth open waiting for the next. He usually gets right down to business and is done eating in about 10 minutes and, surprisingly, the majority seems to end up in his stomach rather than on his bib. However, that was not the case with carrots. He loved the carrots so much he just felt the need to bathe himself in them!
I don't know who the dork behind the camera is. Just pay attention to the cute baby.

Finally gave in
So, it has taken me 5 months of motherhood to finally jump on the blogging bandwagon. I take about a gazillion pictures a day of Sam and need to do something with them. They're too cute to just sit on the camera;) And apparently you can have your blog printed at the end of the year, kind of like a photo album. Hello instant baby book! I also like the idea of being able to talk about how totally awesome my son is without actually talking to anyone about how totally awesome my son is. Nobody wants to be that girl. So, anyway, check back here regularly for pictures, updates on all the fun new things he's doing and (hopefully) the occasional video.
I'm kind of late starting this blog, so to catch up a little: Sam is 5 months old today, still not sleeping through the night (yaaaay), rolling over both ways, grabbing anything within his reach and shoving it directly into his mouth. When he will stay on his stomach for longer than a couple minutes he is starting to work on getting those legs and arms moving. So far, though, it has only resulted in him shimmying backward, away from whatever toy he is trying to grab. He loves that. He's starting to kind of prop him self up, like a tripod, when he's sitting up, but we're still working on that. He would probably lie on the living room floor and squeal at the ceiling fan all day if I let him. My favorite thing that he is doing right now is when I lean in close enough to him he puts a little chubby hand on either side of my face, opens his mouth as wide as it will go and lets out his best squeal. Just because I'm near him. Melts my heart.
Here are some photos from a random Tuesday morning photo shoot:
Pretty darn cute, right? I'll try to post as frequently as possible, so come back soon!
P.S. I probably don't need to explain the title of the blog to those who already know Sam, but just in case; his initials are SIR.
